2-Line kites - These kites as the name suggests have two control lines (strings) to control the kite, they are great beginners kites simple to set up and use. Flexifoil Buzz, Ozone Imp, Flexifoil Stacker 6 & HQ Symphony are all exapmples of 2-line kites 4-Line Kites - These kites as the name suggests have four control lines (strings) the top two lines work in exactly the same way as on a two line kite, the addition bottom (or brake) lines act as a breaks for the kite allowing you to take power out of the kite. They also make the kite far more controllable. Solo reverse launches are possible with this type of kite. For adult beginners a kite of 2.5m sq - 3.5m sq would usually be reccomended, this can be used for static flying, or traction activities such as kite buggying or landboarding. Flexifoil Blade, Rage, Sting, Ozone Cult, Haka, PKD buster & HQ beamer are all examples of 4-line kites Depowerable Kites - Grenerally not reccomended for beginners but more suitable for advanced flyers. Mainly used with a landboard, but also used with buggies. These kites have 4 or 5 lines and are controlled with a bar, a harness is also required with this type of kite, not due to the power of the kites but due to the way the kite works. Ozone Frenzy, Access, Manta, Flexifoil Sabre & HQ Apex are all examples of depowerable kites. |
